5SOS Everyone's a Star! tour banner

5SOS are back with another album and a world tour. The Australian boy band will be returning to North America with a packed itinerary that has them hitting not only Toronto, but also Hamilton's freshly renovated TD Coliseum, with dozens of shows separating the two. Their new album, Everyone's a Star!, drops November 14th, so fans will have 2-3 full seasons to live with the songs and decide on whether they'll be joining the boys on this run.

💡How I rate shows

  • Various factors are considered, including community sentiment, time since last show, pricing, proximity to nearby dates, and more
  • Each factor is given a positive or negative score. Positive scores swing in the direction of Buy, and negative scores swing towards Wait
  • Factors sum up to one score, which becomes the FaceValue Verdict: Buy or Wait

The factors

Here's everything pushing this presale up or down the FaceValue scale.

Fanbase aging out of FOMO -6

With Live Nation driving ticket prices through the roof in recent years, fans that enjoyed their previous tour will have a direct point of comparison when it comes to pricing. As the fanbase gets older, they become less susceptible to the FOMO tactics of a modern Live Nation presale.

Hamilton date -5

The boys will be playing the newly renovated TD Coliseum early on in the tour. For the most eager fans, this will be the place to see them as anticipation will be at a height.

Late tour fatigue -4

Consequently, their agent opted to route Toronto's stop much later in the run. Splitting the GTA across two dates months apart feels like a strategy that spreads buzz thin. We can expect resale to soften with multiple options afforded to fans.

Lateral touring -3

The Everyone's a Star tour marks 5SOS's third consecutive visit to Bud Stage. It seems the group has reached a plateau where they can't sell the jump up to Scotiabank Arena. Repeat visits to the same venue will mean fewer people will be buying off sheer hype.

Peak summer outdoor appeal +2

Coming fresh off a Civic Holiday weekend at the top of August, the show has a good chance of bringing out casual fans beyond the core fandom. Concertgoers in this category will be more likely to buy closer to the date, causing a volatile resale market heading into showtime.

The buzz just isn't there -6

Anecdotally, I'm hearing secondhand that while fans are excited, they're not pawn-the-wardrobe, open-multiple-lines-of-credit, sell-your-soul levels desperate for tickets this time around. Even on their last run, we saw resale plummet well ahead of the show.

My recommendation is Big Wait. With multiple venue options and a fanbase getting wiser to panic buying, I expect tickets to be at a substantial discount by next summer. Look out for $30 Concert Week tickets in the spring and upgrades the week-of.
