FaceValue Toronto - Buy concerts, not hype

I made FaceValue to help Toronto concert lovers decide when to Buy or Wait. Clear prices, tips and tricks, and trusted analysis - so you can spend less and see better.

Why FaceValue exists

What seems like forever ago, buying a concert ticket was dead simple. You went to the box office, paid a fair price, and knew what you were getting. Sure, the convenience of modern ticketing allows us to buy stadium seats for Chappell Roan from the comfort of our beds. But with that comfort came a whole slew of nonsense;

  • Massive queues
  • Dynamic pricing
  • Inventory manipulation
  • FOMO triggers
  • Prices falling right after you buy

I could go on and on, but if you're here, you're probably well aware of it all. The point is, the ticket purchasing experience has turned into a stress machine. It's in the best interest of the promoter & ticketing platform for you to be anxious and panicked while clutching your Mastercard. Panic leads to irrational, emotionally-driven decisions, and by the time you checkout, you're left feeling a rush of excitement, confusion, and shame.

You shouldn't have to enter fight or flight mode when buying a concert ticket.

That's where FaceValue comes in.

I'm like you. Or maybe I'm not like you at all.. But I'm sure we're at least a little alike. If there's one thing we have in common, it's that we love concerts and hate being screwed over. Having been to hundreds of concerts in my life, I've accrued a lot of knowledge on the music biz from the consumer side. I built this site as my way of returning that knowledge to the community.

Here on FaceValue you will find;

  • Concert pre-sale breakdowns, giving you the big picture on the most-anticipated tour announcements in the GTA
  • Clear indicators for whether a show is worth Buying or Waiting
  • Seating prices and how they change over time
  • Tips and tricks to help you navigate an ever-evolving ticketing landscape

What you will NOT find is ways to circumvent platform rules, paid or fan-club presale codes, or a playbook on how to scalp tickets. There will be no undisclosed affiliate bias, and if sponsorships ever appear, I'll label them.

My goal is ultimately to be a hub for transparent concert information. No more jumping across artists subreddits, scouring social media pages, and constantly refreshing ticket prices. Just one place with the info you need to know.

Calm and collected. This is how the ticket buying experience should be.

How I rate shows

  • Various factors are considered, including community sentiment, time since last show, pricing, proximity to nearby dates, and more
  • Each factor is given a positive or negative score. Positive scores swing in the direction of Buy, and negative scores swing towards Wait
  • Factors sum up to one score, which becomes the FaceValue Verdict: Buy or Wait

Disclaimer

Here's another thing we have in common: I can't predict the future. I don't know whether those $450 Zach Bryan seats will be the best deal you can get. What I do know is my own experience, and the second-hand experience of dozens of others concert lovers. I can only give you the facts and my own opinions.

πŸ’‘The recommendations I provide are just predictions, they're not to be taken as financial advice. I'm not your financial advisor. I'm just someone trying to make sense of a market I spend way too much time and money in to not at least try.

"History doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes." - Mark Twain

This is a work in progress.

Over time, I'm going to refine my systems based on your feedback. I want this to be something that can build and grow into something bigger. Hopefully it can even put pressure on platforms to be more transparent.

I'm excited to see where we can take this. I hope you're with me on this journey! See you in the pit!🀘
